Utilizing Datch’s expertise in AI and mobility solutions, the collaboration is centered around a Proof of Concept that employs a conversational interface, enabling Con Edison emergency team members to seamlessly record and forward crucial emergency event information.

Key Features of the PoC include:
1. Mobility Solution with Voice Commands: Allowing for instantaneous information capture in the field.
2. Training for Accuracy: A collaborative effort between Datch and Con Edison to create a comprehensive dictionary containing industry terms, abbreviations, and synonyms, aimed at refining Datch’s natural language understanding engine.
3. Intuitive Application Design: Datch and Con Edison will co-develop a solution that captures structured data about emergencies, streamlining the process of actioning emergency tickets.
4. Data Privacy: Con Edison’s data will be protected under strict security and compliance policies and is an important driver for this project.
Key Objectives of the PoC:
1. Evaluating the practicality of conversational interfaces for in-field emergency teams.
2. Enhancing the quality and quantity of data collated by these teams.
3. Reducing dependency on calls to the control center.
4. Discovering methodologies for structured data collection to aid in reporting and data analysis.
5. Developing a system that evolves with business language for efficient data capture from field mechanics.
Initial trials will be conducted in a sandbox environment using past emergency job tickets. In parallel to these PoC efforts, the teams will explore how to integrate their respective systems, and the Datch team will be available to support additional field tests, if needed.
User Testing:
Acknowledging the importance of iterative refinement, an adaptable user testing framework is embedded within the PoC. This mechanism ensures the evolving Datch solution remains aligned with Con Edison's emergency team's requirements.
