New York City, [February 26th, 2024] – Datch, an innovator in Industrial AI and mobility technologies, is proud to announce its collaboration with Southern Company, one of the largest producers of electricity in the United States, with support from EPRI, an independent, nonprofit R&D organization, to demonstrate Voice AI applications in the utility industry to optimize frontline operations.
Objective
The primary objective of this research and development project is to evaluate the efficiencies and challenges associated with the future integration of voice assistant technology into real-world utility operations, comparing its performance to traditional methods employed by transmission operators.

Use Cases
1. Voice-Assisted Document Search
This use case focuses on the ability of an operator to leverage voice commands to search for and retrieve a document stored in a company’s network. The aim is to provide answers directly from the document's content, promoting swift and efficient information retrieval.
2. Voice-Assisted Structured Data Input
In this scenario, the operator uses voice commands to initiate and complete specific forms or processes, such as a shift handover process. Datch, the voice assistant, can guide the operator through the required questions, capturing responses and transcribing them into a structured format. It will intelligently match entity lists, format dates, units of measure, and incorporate industry and organizational-specific language.
